I
AM COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS TO TELL MY STORY
- Nine years ago, I jumped
from a building in an attempt to end my life. If it happened to me,
it could happen to anyone. Why was this night, 9 years ago, the worst
time of my life?
I was overwhelmed with a
heavy workload, traffic jams, financial worries, job downsizing, marital
problems, hectic schedules with four kids (homework and sports) and my
twisted thinking made me believe that ending my life was the only way
out.
- Why have I decided to
break the silence now and give a real voice to the kind of person that
attempts suicide?
- How did a young man from
Upper Merion High School help me to tell my secret?
- What were the negative
thoughts and feelings that made the world look like a bleak place?
- How did I recover from
the hopelessness and despair that led to my suicide attempts?
My undiagnosed
symptoms, which led to my taking carbon monoxide and then jumping from
a building:
- Excruciating headaches
- Nervousness
- Couldn’t sleep
- No appetite
- Lost 60 pounds
- Angry
- Irritable
- High blood pressure
- Trouble concentrating
